Allergy Enhanced Blood Test — 17 Allergens + Total IgE

£199.00

The Allergy Enhanced Blood Test checks 17 allergens plus total IgE (18 markers) across food, seafood, pets, dust mites and pollen in one blood sample. It is a step up from the first-line panel for people reacting to something at home, at work or after eating who have not been able to pinpoint the cause.

The test looks for IgE antibodies, the type of antibody involved in many allergic reactions, to each allergen.

Frequently asked questions

How long do allergy test results take?

Results are returned within 3 to 5 working days.

Does a positive result mean I have an allergy?

Not necessarily. An IgE result shows sensitisation, which means your immune system has made antibodies to a substance. Whether it causes symptoms depends on your history, so results are interpreted alongside what you experience.

Can I take antihistamines before the test?

Blood tests for specific IgE are not normally affected by antihistamines, unlike skin prick tests. Tell us what you take when you book.

Does this test check for food intolerance?

No. It measures IgE antibodies linked to allergy, not intolerances.

Should I stop eating a food if my result is positive?

Do not cut out foods, particularly for children, without advice from a clinician. A positive result alone does not show that a food is causing your symptoms.

Which allergy panel should I choose?

The Allergy First-Line Panel checks 8 allergens, and the Allergy Complete Panel checks 62.

Good to know

This test measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies in your blood and does not diagnose an allergy on its own. It does not replace care from your GP. If you have had a severe reaction, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or collapse, seek emergency help. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your health information.
