Boost & Glow offers home and workplace body composition scans and guided biohacking sessions across Essex, Hertfordshire and London. We measure body fat, muscle mass and visceral fat, and turn the numbers into a simple personal plan for sleep, energy, nutrition, training and recovery. It is for men and women, whether you are starting out, getting back on track or training for an event such as Hyrox.
See services from £34How it worksTwo people can weigh the same and have very different amounts of muscle and fat. Body composition shows whether your training, diet and sleep are actually working, and it is a far better measure of progress than the scales.
The scales cannot tell you if you are losing fat or losing muscle. That matters if you are dieting, using weight-loss support, training hard, getting older or simply feeling flat. A scan shows what is changing underneath, so you can adjust early instead of guessing.
When it is combined with blood test results and, if you use one, WHOOP data, you get a much fuller picture of your health.
Each scan gives you a clear summary, not a page of jargon. Exact measures depend on the device used at your visit.
| Measure | What it tells you | Why it is useful |
|---|---|---|
| Body fat % | The share of your weight that is fat | A better progress marker than weight alone |
| Skeletal muscle mass | The muscle you use to move, lift and run | Shows whether you are building or keeping muscle |
| Visceral fat level | Fat stored around the organs in the abdomen | A useful number to track, and one of the most motivating to improve |
| Body water | Total water in your body | Helps us interpret your readings and spot hydration swings |
| Basal metabolic rate (estimate) | Roughly what your body burns at rest | A starting point for sensible nutrition targets |
Bioimpedance gives estimates for tracking change. It is not a DEXA scan or a medical diagnosis.
General lifestyle information, not medical advice. If you are pregnant, the scan is not suitable.
Whether you are building towards Hyrox, a half marathon, a triathlon or just lifting regularly, performance depends on carrying the right amount of muscle and fuelling it properly. A scan gives you objective data to work with alongside your coach or training plan.
Track lean mass through a heavy training block or a fat-loss phase, so you can see if you are losing muscle while the scales go down.
Scan at the start, then at weeks 4, 8 and 12. A 12-week programme is a common length for a Hyrox or race build.
If you wear a WHOOP, add Pulse to look at sleep, HRV and recovery alongside your scans.
We are not a coaching or sports medicine service. We support your training with data and practical lifestyle guidance.

Choose a service and we arrange a time at your home or workplace, or a video call for the Basics Session. You complete a short health and goals questionnaire beforehand, so the session fits you.
The scan takes a few minutes. You stand barefoot on a smart scale and feel nothing.
We explain the numbers and agree three priorities. Your written plan is emailed to you.
A body composition scan estimates how much of your weight is fat, muscle and water. At Boost & Glow we use bioimpedance, which sends a very small, painless electrical signal through your body while you stand barefoot on a smart scale.
It is best for tracking change over time. Hydration, food, exercise and time of day all affect readings, so we standardise conditions at each visit. It is not a DEXA scan, which is a different type of medical imaging.
The scan works the same way, but healthy ranges differ, and so do the things that influence readings. Men and women carry fat in different places and have different typical muscle levels, and for women hormones and fluid shifts through the month can affect results. We take this into account when we explain your numbers.
Yes, it can help. A scan shows whether you are keeping muscle while you train or lose fat, and rescans at weeks 4, 8 and 12 fit a typical build. We support your coach or plan with data and general lifestyle guidance, and we do not replace coaching.
Every 4 weeks is a good rhythm for most people, because body composition changes slowly. Scanning more often mostly picks up day-to-day water changes.
A home scale gives a single reading that can swing with hydration and varies by brand. At each visit we standardise conditions, explain what the numbers mean for you and turn them into a written plan, and we compare against your previous results.
Biohacking means making small, measurable changes to your habits to improve how you feel and perform. We focus on the basics with strong evidence: sleep, nutrition, movement and recovery.
We visit homes and workplaces across Essex, Hertfordshire and London. The Biohacking Basics Session is a video call and can be taken from anywhere in the UK.
It is not suitable if you are pregnant or have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device.
Your questionnaire answers and results are kept confidential and used only to deliver your service. See our privacy policy for details.
No. Our sessions give general lifestyle guidance and the scan gives estimates for tracking. We do not diagnose or treat conditions and this does not replace care from your GP. If you feel unwell, seek medical advice, and call 999 in an emergency.
