The Over 60s Women's Health Blood Test measures 45 biomarkers across 11 areas, including blood count, iron, kidney, liver, bone, heart, thyroid, vitamins, inflammation, blood sugar and CA125. It is designed as a broad annual check for women aged 60 and over.
After the menopause, the risks of conditions such as heart disease, osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes rise, and thyroid problems and low iron or B12 become more common. This panel brings the relevant blood markers into one sample.
| Area | Biomarkers |
|---|---|
| Full blood count (14) | RBC, WBC, Haemoglobin, Platelets, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, MPV, Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, Basophils |
| Iron studies (2) | Iron, Ferritin |
| Kidney function (5) | Creatinine, eGFR, Urea, Sodium, Phosphate |
| Liver function (8) | ALT, AST, ALP, Gamma GT, Bilirubin, Albumin, Globulin, Total protein |
| Bone and mineral health (3) | Calcium, Corrected calcium, Vitamin D |
| Heart health (6) | Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Non-HDL, Triglycerides, HDL ratio |
| Inflammation (1) | CRP |
| Blood sugar (1) | HbA1c |
| Thyroid function (2) | TSH, Free T4 |
| Vitamins (2) | Active B12, Folate |
| Ovarian marker (1) | CA125 |
Sex hormones such as oestradiol and FSH are not part of this panel. They are included in our Hormone Profile Blood Test and Well Woman Blood Test.
CA125 is a blood marker that can be raised by ovarian conditions, but also by many non-cancer causes. It is not a screening test for ovarian cancer in women without symptoms, and a normal result does not rule anything out. If you have persistent symptoms such as bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain or feeling full quickly, see your GP.
Results are usually available within 72 hours.
Many people repeat a broad panel annually, but the right interval depends on your results and health. Your clinician can advise.
No. It does not replace NHS screening programmes or appointments with your GP.
Yes, the Well Woman Blood Test covers women of all ages.
This test measures levels in your blood and does not diagnose a condition. It does not replace care from your GP, and if you feel unwell you should seek medical advice. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your health information.
