The Over 60s Men's Health Blood Test measures over 40 biomarkers across 10 areas, including blood count, prostate (PSA), kidney, liver, bone, heart, thyroid, vitamins, inflammation and blood sugar. It is designed as a broad annual check for men aged 60 and over.
Risks such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and kidney decline rise with age, and often cause no symptoms early on. This panel brings the relevant blood markers into one sample.
| Area | Biomarkers |
|---|---|
| Full blood count | Red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets, with their related measurements |
| Prostate (1) | PSA |
| Kidney function (5) | Creatinine, eGFR, Urea, Sodium, Phosphate |
| Liver function (9) | ALT, AST, ALP, Gamma GT, Bilirubin, Albumin, Globulin, Total protein, LDH |
| Bone and mineral health (2) | Calcium, Corrected calcium |
| Heart health (6) | Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Non-HDL, Triglycerides, HDL ratio |
| Inflammation (1) | CRP |
| Blood sugar (1) | HbA1c |
| Thyroid function (2) | TSH, Free T4 |
| Nutrients (2) | Folate, Iron |
Testosterone is not part of this panel. It is covered by our Testosterone Blood Test and the Well Man Blood Test.
PSA is a screening marker, not a diagnosis. It can be raised by an enlarged prostate, infection or inflammation as well as by cancer, and guidance on testing men without symptoms is nuanced, so it is worth discussing with your GP. For more detail, see our Advanced PSA Blood Test, which measures total and free PSA and their ratio.
Results are usually available within 72 hours.
Many people repeat a broad panel annually, but the right interval depends on your results and health. Your clinician can advise.
No. It does not replace NHS health checks or appointments with your GP.
Yes, the Well Man Blood Test covers men of all ages.
This test measures levels in your blood and does not diagnose a condition. It does not replace care from your GP, and if you feel unwell you should seek medical advice. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your health information.
