Short answer: private blood tests in the UK start from around the low £100s for a single-focus test and rise to a few hundred pounds for broad panels. At Boost & Glow in Epping, Essex, private blood tests start from £120.99 and the price includes the venous blood draw, with results in about 72 hours. Prices checked October 2026.
What affects the price of a private blood test?
Two tests that sound similar can cost very different amounts. The main differences are:
- How many markers are measured. A test for one organ or hormone group costs less than a panel covering 20 or more biomarkers.
- Whether the blood draw is included. Some providers charge separately for the clinician who takes your sample. Ours is included.
- How the sample is taken. A venous draw from the arm by a clinician is the standard for accurate results. Finger-prick kits are cheaper but measure fewer things.
- The laboratory. We use Randox, an established UK laboratory.
- Where you are tested. Home and workplace visits carry a visit fee that depends on your area. Testing at our Epping clinic does not.

- Your results, reviewed before you receive them, usually in about 72 hours.
- A team that can explain what your results mean.
Is a cheaper test better value?
Not always. A low-priced test that does not measure what you actually need can cost you twice. If you are tired, for example, a tiredness-focused panel that includes B12, folate, iron and thyroid markers may be more useful than a single cheap marker. If you are unsure, a £25 consultation can help you choose.
Private blood test or NHS?
The NHS is the right route if your GP thinks you need a test: it is free when your GP orders it, and your GP decides which tests are clinically needed. Private testing is for people who want to choose their own panel, book quickly, or track markers their GP would not normally check. Private testing complements the NHS and does not replace it. Blood tests do not diagnose on their own, so speak to your GP about anything concerning.
