There's a critical difference between being disease-free and being truly healthy. Your blood test results reveal one. Here's what they're not telling you about the other.

When your doctor says your blood results are normal, that's genuinely useful information — it means you're not flagging for disease. But here's what most people don't realise: those reference ranges were calculated from population averages. That means they include people who are sedentary, overweight, stressed, and nutrient-depleted.

Being 'in range' just means you're average. Average is not a health goal.

The system isn't broken. It's designed to catch disease — not to optimise health. Those are two completely different jobs.

Vitamin B12 is one of the clearest examples of this gap. Someone sitting at 200 pg/mL falls inside the NHS reference range. They're told their results are normal.
